The $1.4 billion grossing filmmaker has had a long history with the Burbank, CA lot including the Golden Globe nominated movies Crazy Rich Asians and In the Heights. He’s currently developing the feature take of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go! for Warner Bros Animation, Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Bad Robot producing.

Chu’s Crazy Rich Asians is one of the top ten highest-grossing romantic comedies of all time at $239M. A musical stage adaptation of the hit movie is currently in the works with Chu and Warner Bros. Theater Ventures. Next up for Chu is Universal’s feature take of the Broadway musical, Wicked, which will be released in two parts: On Nov. 27, 2024 and Nov. 26, 2025.
