‘Unicorns’ Breakout Jason Patel Inks With Gersh & Untitled Following Romantic Drama’s TIFF Bow

EXCLUSIVE: Following the TIFF world premiere of Unicorns, the buzzy cross-cultural romance marking his feature acting debut, British actor and singer Jason Patel has taken on new reps at Gersh and Untitled Entertainment.

World premiering up north just a few weeks ago, the film from Sally El-Hosaini and James Krishna Floyd has him starring as Aysha, a British Indian drag queen living a double life, with Ben Hardy (Love at First Sight) as Luke, a single father from Essex who works as a mechanic. When their paths collide, an emotional search for identity is sparked.

Pic debuted to almost universally positive reviews and landed Patel on several Best Performance lists out of the festival. CAA is handling sales.

In addition to his acting career, Patel is an emerging musical artist whose work spans pop and R&B. His latest single, “Choclafied,” was released worldwide in August, and will be followed by the release of his Debut EP Delicious, at a date as yet unconfirmed. He’s also previously released singles including “6iX,” “One Last Dance,” and “Invisible 2.0” and been recognized with Artist of The Week & Track of The Week kudos from both BBC Introducing and BBC Asian Network.

Patel started on the London music and queer nightlife scene by supporting Ryan Lanji’s Bollywood event Hungama and Drag Race UK‘s Tia Kofi at their headlining show at Moth Club. He’s also performed at River Stage at the National Theatre in London, as well as Manchester Pride. The performer began his career with theatre roles such as Tinkerbell in Peter Pan and Mowgli in The Jungle Book, having trained at both Rose Bruford College in London and UARTS in Philadelphia.
