Megan Thee Stallion’s ex-pal Kelsey Nicole breaks silence on Tory Lanez shooting as she accuses rapper of ‘betrayal’ – and is ‘unclear’ on why they had a falling out: ‘Why did it have to come out like this?’

Megan Thee Stallion’s ex-pal Kelsey Nicole Harris has broken her since on the Tory Lanez shooting as she accused the famous rapper of ‘betrayal’ and says she remains ‘unclear’ why the two had a falling out.

The 28-year-old rapper opened up about the July 2020 night as she was present when her former friend Megan, 29, was shot by the 31-year-old Canadian singer who recently filed an appeal to his guilty verdict.

Kelsey appeared on The Danza Project podcast which released on Sunday as she revealed that she found out about a ‘betrayal’ by Megan on the night she was shot.

The rapper said: ‘It’s crazy, yeah it is it is [the night she found out about the alleged betrayal was when the shooting happened] to my knowledge s***.

‘Other than that like s*** she was 100 to my knowledge so yeah it did end up coming out that night that she had been betraying me or whatever and of course it’s like damn why it had to come out like this?

‘You should be able to come to me and say this, so that way we can laugh in these n***as faces. Not these n***as laughing at us.’

Kelsey also revealed that that fateful night was the last time she saw Megan and is unsure why they had a falling out as she claims that the alleged ‘betrayal’ was not the reason behind it.

The rapper explained: ‘The whole situation with her doing whatever behind my back that is not while we fell out.

‘It is so unclear to me why we fell out. I’m the type of person who likes to communicate things. Some people don’t like to communicate.

‘But you would think when you have this. When you are close to this person and this person is supposed to be you know like your best friend, your family, your sister that you will be able to talk about these things and you know agree to disagree.’

Kelsey went on to explain that she understands that people can grow and that she often opts to move on not looking back in anger.

She explained: ‘You know, people grow and you don’t even have to know its the end of your season and if that was just the end of our season I feel like we should have been able to just have that conversation and it would have been fine.

‘You don’t have to have it end in chaos or can’t move on with peace, you know, I’m the type of person who likes to move on with peace. I can respect that people grow.’

Kelsey also detailed why she kept silent on the matter for so long and why she has decided to open up now nearly four years later.

She explained: ‘It took a lot for me to come and do this. Part of that is, I wanted to be sure when I did speak that I wasn’t speaking from a place of anger.

‘I’m able to articulate myself well enough and not allow the drama to overshadow how I truly feel. I think that’s very important. I didn’t want to take an interview or sit down with anybody until I was past that part.’

She also added that she wants to ‘open up more’ and ‘let people into my life a little bit, and maybe this will help them understand me more.’

This came just days after Tory Lanez has filed an appeal of his guilty verdict in his July 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, saying that prosecutors in the case engaged in misconduct, including in parts of the trial in which the superstar songstress took the stand.

Attorneys for the 31-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, said that the grounds for the appeal in the case was the aforementioned misconduct and an ‘erroneous admission of evidence,’ US Weekly reported on Wednesday after reviewing documents in the case.

The Brampton, Canada native was convicted in August 2023 in December of 2022 of assault with a semiautomatic firearm; keeping a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging the firearm with gross negligence.

Lanez received a 10-year prison sentence in connection with three felony convictions in the July 2020 incident in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles.

In legal docs, lawyers for the Jerry Sprunger artist took issue with the manner in which Megan Thee Stallion, 29, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, took the stand to testify.

Lanez’s lawyers said that Megan was ‘allowed to inappropriately answer questions in a narrative format including testimony concerning irrelevant and inadmissible matters, such as her feelings regarding the circumstances of the incident.’

The Broke in a Minute performer’s legal team said that ‘prosecutors made multiple improper appeals to emotion and sympathy for’ Megan in their closing arguments, which ‘had no bearing’ on determining if Lanez had been innocent or guilty.

‘Sympathy for the victim is out of place during an objective determination of guilt,’ Lanez’s lawyers said.

In the trial, Megan testified Lanez had shot at her feet and yelled at her to dance as she was getting out of an SUV following a party at the home of Kylie Jenner.

Megan, who initially did not publicly identify Lanez as the shooter, testified she had to undergo surgery to take bullet fragments out of her feet.

‘Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace,’ the songstress said in a statement a prosecutor read prior to the sentencing. ‘Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same.’

Prosecutors spoke positively of Megan for her fortitude in coming forward amid online hate and mockery aimed at her over the incident involving Lanez.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said, ‘I hope that Miss Pete’s bravery gives hope to those who feel helpless.’

In an Elle piece published the day of Lanez’s sentencing, Megan opened up about the lessons she felt were crucial in the incident.

‘For anyone who has survived violence, please know your feelings are valid,’ she said. ‘You matter. You are not at fault. You are important. You are loved. You are not defined by your trauma.’

She continued, ‘Just because you are in a bad situation doesn’t mean you are a bad person. Our value doesn’t come from the opinions of other people. As long as you stand your ground and live in your truth, nobody can take your power.’

Lanez stated he was not apologizing to the singer in a statement he issued on his Instagram page in the wake of his sentencing.

‘This week in court I took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved,’ he said. ‘That’s it.’

He continued, ‘In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do … tough times don’t last, tough people do.’

The latest developments in the shooting case involving Lanez came days after superstar rapper Drake posted an Instagram Stories picture of the Talk to Me rapper Sunday captioned, ‘3 you.’

Drake, 37, received pushback after the social media post from fans of Megan Thee Stallion, saying that the Toronto native had been acting petty amid his bad blood with Megan, as they have exchanged insults in their material.

Drake’s 2022 single with 21 Savage, Circo Loco, included a line in which he rapped: ‘This b**** lie ’bout gettin’ shots/But she still a stallion.’

Megan tweeted in response, ‘Stop using my shooting for clout b**** a** n*****! Since when tf is it cool to joke abt women getting shot! You n***** especially RAP n***** ARE LAME!’

Megan seemingly referred to to Drake in her single Hiss with a line, ‘These n***** hate on BBLs and be walkin’ ’round with the same scars/Real curvy, no edgin’, n***** fight to get in my section/ Don’t speak on my body count if the d*** ain’t worth comin’ back for seconds/ Cosplay gangsters, fake-a** accents.’
