‘I’ve been following their simple and easy protocol for over 2 years now. People ask all the time, I use their shampoo, condition daily and their extract at night,’ she explained.
‘I could not be happier with my results and to finally be at peace with my hair loss struggles.’
‘Pictures are taken just over a year apart,’ she wrote adding that the first photo was taken on December 31, 2019, and the second photo was taken on January 27, 2021.
The Scandinavian company that specializes in hair growth called Harklinikken diagnosed her with the hereditary condition known as androgenetic alopecia before treating her according to a People article back in February.
At peace: In the second photo, taken last year, the actress, 53, is seen with voluminous hair growth, which she credited to her hair care products, adding, ‘I could not be happier with my results and to finally be at peace with my hair loss struggles’

WHAT IS ANDROGENETIC ALOPECIA?
Androgenic alopecia is a genetic condition that can affect both men and women. Men with this condition, called male pattern baldness, can begin suffering hair loss as early as their teens or early 20s. It’s characterized by a receding hairline and gradual disappearance of hair from the crown and frontal scalp. Women with this condition, called female pattern baldness, don’t experience noticeable thinning until their 40s or later. Women experience a general thinning over the entire scalp, with the most extensive hair loss at the crown.
At the end of last year the star revealed that she has learned a lot since revealing her battle with hair loss two years prior and shaving her head.
‘2 years ago today I took a leap of faith. I finally surrendered and came out about my decades long struggle with hair loss (and shaved my head),’ the actress said to her Instagram followers.
‘It was so scary and so liberating. The journey since has been such a gift. Self-love and acceptance has been the great takeaway. And 2 years later, I sit in total gratitude for the journey,’ Lake added.
Opening up in 2020: ‘Suffering mostly in silence off and on for almost 30 years. AND I am finally ready to share my secret,’ Ricki said in her original Instagram post in 2020
She went on to thank her friends, family and role models for their support and helping her ‘love myself exactly as I am.’
The actress was smiling for the camera as she had her hair buzzed off for the second time. Ricki was embracing her short, grey hair before making the decision again to completely buzz it off.
‘First things first, I am not sick. (THANK GOD.) I am not having a mid-life crisis. Nor am I having a mental breakdown, though I have been suffering,’ she began her lengthy Instagram post in 2020. ‘Suffering mostly in silence off and on for almost 30 years. AND I am finally ready to share my secret.’
Hairspray: Lake previously revealed that her hair has never been the same since filming Hairspray in 1988, where her natural hair was ‘triple-processed and teased,’ stating she went from ‘Hairspray to Hairless’
The mother-of-two credits her hair loss from the time she spent filming the Hairspray movies, even mentioning it in her original Instagram post.
‘Ever since I played Tracy Turnblad in the original Hairspray back in 1988 and they triple-processed and teased my then healthy virgin hair every 2 weeks during filming, my hair was never the same. (Yes, that was all my own hair in the film.) From Hairspray to Hairless.’
Ricki has two children, Milo, 25, and Owen, 21, who she shares with her ex-husband, Rob Sussman. She was also previously married to jewelry designer Christian Evans from 2012 until 2015. Evans died by suicide on February 11, 2017.
The star tied the knot for the third time earlier this year, marrying her lawyer fiancé Ross Burningham in a magical backyard wedding, after they got engaged in February of 2021.
