The first hole is the deepest! Rod Stewart’s pothole-filling campaign pays off as council promises him new road that won’t damage his Ferrari

Sir Rod Stewart has won his battle to fix the potholes near his home in Essex after complaining they were damaging his Ferrari.
The singer, who had a hit with the song The First Cut Is The Deepest, got to work fixing the road himself earlier this year after claiming ‘no-one can be bothered to do it’.
Videos posted to Instagram showed the star in a high-vis vest shovelling gravel into the holes along with a group of his friends.
Sir Rod, 77, said there had been several incidents along the road – he said: ‘I’m repairing the street where I live as no-one can be bothered to do it. Me and my mates.’
He added: ‘My Ferrari can’t get through here at all!’

In one of the clips, the Maggie May singer said: ‘This is the state of the road near where I live in Harlow and it’s been like this for ages.
‘People are smashing their cars up. The other day, there was an ambulance with a burst tyre. My Ferrari can’t go through here at all!’
He continued: ‘So me and the boys thought we would come and do it ourselves. We are filling the holes while millions and millions of pounds have been spent on the M11.’
The makeshift repair crew were given a telling off by Essex Council, who warned those making the repairs could be liable for future accidents.
However, the council now says it will relay the road around Sir Rod’s house to fix the damaging potholes.
A source told The Sun: ‘It seems his publicity has finally shamed the council into fixing the road.
‘Sir Rod is going to be absolutely chuffed. Good for him.’
