Wedding guest is SLAMMED for wearing white lacy floor length dress to ceremony

Would you be upset if your wedding guest looked more like the bride than you?

On the wedding shaming Reddit thread, a person with the username Knasty Woman, who appears to be located in Alberta, Canada, shared a photo of two women standing together in similar white lace dresses.

‘Oh dear. Bride on left, guest on right,’ the Reddit user wrote, which caused quite an uproar in the online community, which describes itself as ‘a place to shame wedding themes, brides, grooms, wedding party, in-laws, outlaws, guests, Uncle Bob, vendors… you name it, we shame it!’

Commenters wondered if the anonymous wedding guest wore the gown on purpose, if it looked more pink in person, and why should we try to upstage the bride on her big day.

In the shocking photos, the bride wore a princess neckline lace gown with an embellished silver crystal belt, while the guest in question opted for a strapless white lace dress of her own that looked eerily similar to a wedding gown.

While her dress had a white lace overlay, it did appear to have a blush underpinning – although it photographed more white than pink.

The Reddit user used emojis to hide the people’s faces, obscuring the bride, the guilty party, and what appeared to be her date.

Commenters unsurprisingly had a field day with the overlapping ensembles.

‘Oh dear. Someone else who just truly believes she is the main character,’ one snarked.

‘My God, does she hate the bride?! What’s their relationship?’ another asked, which proved a popular sentiment as people questioned if they were frenemies.

‘Guys it’s fine, the dress is BLUSH under the white lace, totally not like a wedding dress at all,’ a user joked.

One asked, ‘Are there people out there who think you SHOULD wear white to a wedding bc it’s a wedding? It’s just such an obviously tacky move I can’t wrap my head around the decision to do it… It’s only a decision that embarrasses the person who does it. What does she get out of it?’

A commenter explained, ‘Lace and close to white is just no.’

Another asked, ‘How could she think that was ok? Was she like frenemies with the bride?’

‘I really don’t understand women like this. Do you feel any shame? Or at least weird? It’s so weird to be competitive with your friend. It’s scary how some people never mature,’ one user wrote.

Another responded, ‘My friend’s MIL wore a near duplicate of her dress… She was flattered when people making fun of her said she was the one getting married. She didn’t understand that people who said this were laughing at her.’

Some commenters pointed out that it would be downright uncomfortable to attend a wedding while looking like the one getting married, as one wrote: ‘I already don’t like attending weddings, I can’t imagine wearing something that will guarantee people will be looking at me and noticing me all night.’

One person mused, ‘At the worst it’s envy and deliberate desire to hurt the bride.’

Some people thought the bride should ask her wedding photographer to make her dress a different color.

One wrote, ‘I’d be so tempted to ask the photographer to Photoshop the dress to a different color like dark red or blue.’

They also plotted revenge, adding, ‘Then print it and send it in the card with the thank you note.’

A few confident commenters jumped to the wedding guest’s defense and pointed out the under layer appeared to be millennial pink instead of ivory.
